Flow, time management and focusHow to get more done in a day than your colleagues do in a week
If you had an extra hour in the day what would you do with it? What are you doing now instead? Does perfectionism, procrastination or imposter syndrome get in the way? Read on to find focus and get the right things done.
In a ten year study conducted by McKinsey, executives reported that they were five times more productive when they worked in a state of optimal concentration called flow. That means that they could get as much done by the end of Monday than their steady-state peers did in a whole week. Is a full day in flow a leap too far? The same McKinsey researchers said that if we could all just increase the time we spend in flow by 15 – 20%, overall workplace productivity would almost double.
Most of us spend our time responding to other people’s priorities – emails, meetings and interruptions that ambush our time. We work on tasks that are screaming at us to be done, that are right in front of us, rather than putting our time and energy into the important work that will move us forwards. Do you know what you are measured on and where you have the greatest impact? Does how you spend your time reflect this? Or are you people-pleasing, feeling resentful because you can’t push back and say No?
This energising session will help you to understand how to get the right things done, how to work in a way that energises you and puts oomph back into your career.
We will explore the science of flow, how to remove distractions and interruptions and how to schedule time and place to work in order to be more productive. You’ll leave feeling empowered and with a greater sense of wellbeing and control.
Loved it! Everything she said was relate-able and has made me really think and question myself
I thought it was really useful within a work context but also within a personal context too. I used Zena’s approach on a call I made just after the session which resulted in a meeting next week with a guy that has a good overview on a large recruitment area within (BANK).
|Great delivery, having studied Psychology I felt more attuned to what she was talking about. Loved being engaged throughout the lecture maybe a follow up to see how we all feel? if it worked?|
|I really enjoyed the session. It was very engaging and made me think about things slightly differently. Thank you!|

I also loved a session we had with career coach Zena Everett. I seriously filled up about six A4 pages of notes during her talk, she pretty much gave us all a free coaching session and helped us think about what we want to do. Then she told us like it is when it comes to the recruitment process and what companies are looking for in applications and interviews, and told us how to network online to land a dream job and better business connections. If you have any career concerns I definitely recommend booking a session with Zena! It will sort you right out!Sarah
